Pastoral Care
We are all called to care, to welcome new members, to lift each other in prayer and to give support in times of crisis. Caring is the business and joy of all God's people. For more information on the ministries below, please contact Dr. Ann Brightwell McCord at DrAnn@northsideumc.org or 678.298.6319 or Katie Bridgers at KatieB@northsideumc.org or 678.298.5070.
Northside Connections
Our goal in Pastoral Care Ministry is to 'connect' Northside members who do not attend worship services and other ministry opportunities, as often as they did in the past, to the fellowship and caring spirit of Northside Church. We stay in touch with our Northside Connections member monthly through a post card, a newsletter, phone calls and visits.
Pastor on Call
If an emergency occurs when the church offices are closed (after 5:00 pm during the week or on the weekend), call the church office main phone number (404.355.6475); listen for the prompts or press number 8 to leave a message. The Pastor on Call will contact you.
Communion Ministry
Our Communion ministry team assists with all aspects of communion on the first Sunday of every month. The volunteers help prepare the elements (juice and wafers) before the service begins, replenish the elements during the service, or clean up after worship is over. Also, volunteers help serve the communion elements to the congregation. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact the Pastoral Care office.
Homebound Communion for Northside Connections
Every Sunday that the Northside Church family celebrates Holy Communion, there are elements on the altar that are also consecrated that are to be offered specifically to our homebound members. Lay ministers then take communion to our members who have difficulty getting to church. If you know of someone who would like to receive communion at home or if you would like to be on the team to serve communion to others, please contact the Pastoral Care office.
Altar Flower Delivery Team
Following the 11:00am worship service each Sunday, a volunteer takes the altar flowers to a church member who is in the hospital, or has just been released from the hospital, or to one of our Northside Connections members. If you would like to be on this delivery team, please contact the Pastoral Care office.
Sunday Servants
Our Sunday Servants are a vital part of our Sunday morning worship experiences. Once a month, our Sunday Servants, who are church members who volunteer one Sunday per month, greet people and hand out bulletins, direct folks to available seats, offer directions around the church campus, collect and count the offering, aid in communion, and assist those with special needs. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for folks of all ages who would enjoy meeting new people. Please contact the Pastoral Care office if you would like to join a Sunday Servant team at any of the three worship services.
Prayer Request List
A weekly, confidential prayer request list is maintained at Northside Church. The Prayer Team lifts concerns and celebrations in prayer. Contact Trisha Kirsch at TrishaK@northsideumc.org or 404.355.6475.
Baptismal Banners
A volunteer creates individual, personalized banners as a gift to the baby getting baptized at the Northside Church.
Care Callers
Volunteers make weekly calls to the church members in the hospital, released home or have a death in the family.
Care Notes
The Pastoral Care office and volunteers send bulletin care notes to church members, birthday cards to the homebound, a monthly newsletter/devotional to the homebound along with a monthly postcard. A sympathy card and care note are sent to family members at the one year anniversary of a loss in their family.
