Support Groups

Overview

Hold on My child, joy comes in the morning. Weeping only last for the night. The darkest hour means dawn is just in sight.  - Psalm 30:5

In a support group, members provide each other with various types of help, usually nonprofessional and nonmaterial, for a particular shared, usually burdensome, characteristic. The help may take the form of providing and evaluating relevant information, relating personal experiences, listening to and accepting others' experiences, providing sympathetic understanding and establishing social networks. A support group may also work to inform the public or engage in advocacy.

Groups

Multiple Sclerosis

Participants in our meetings include not only members of Northside United Methodist Church. Our group is made up of a very diverse group of people, they live in different areas of the city and surrounding counties, they are in different places with their MS, some are newly diagnosed with MS and others have struggled with the disease for many years. Many group participants are the spouse of the person who struggles with MS, or a parent or friend.
